Workshops
In the second half of 2009 we are planning series of a two-day workshops in Karpacz and Zawoja. The subject - sustainable resolutions of water and sewage management problem.
The Sendzimir Foundation and the Center for System Solutions have developed a good cooperation with these two communities running several project with them in previous years. Both municipalities are located in mountainous areas, in the surrounding of the national parks (Karkonoski and Babiogórski), while remaining under strong pressure from tourism, both face problems with water and wastewater management.
The project is designed to solve their problems by using innovative approaches based on public participation, systems analysis and active education.
Planned workshops, organized in close cooperation with local stakeholders (municipal authorities, Babiogórski NP, Karkonoski NP , local NGOs) will be directed to the local community, involving representatives of various interest groups in the common attempt to solve the problem. Local community representatives taking part in the workshops will be joined by a small group of students interested in sustainable development and 2 coaches from the Sendzimir Foundation experienced in educational projects with the participation of local communities. Theseries of four two-day workshops in each of the municipalities will include:
* The introduction of the principles of sustainable development through educational simulation games;
* Analysis of the problem of water and wastewater management using system tools;
* The development of possible solutions in the process of participatory decision-making;
* A summary of project results and the plan of further steps to be taken.
The workshops will be documented o n professional video films, that will be available on the project website and distributed on DVD with the published periodical - Applications of sustainable development. Local community.
